There was a Mardi Gras parade tonight in Hattiesburg. I was reading on Facebook a few minutes ago that a woman was taking her mother to the hospital. A gang had jumped her mother and beat her with brass knuckles. What??!!! This is crazy! We are talking Hattiesburg, people. Not New Orleans.
In case you have not noticed, our world has gone completely mad. A bus driver was killed and a young child is being held hostage in a bunker in Alabama as I type this blog. These are the things you see in movies, not in our area. It is almost enough to make you want to keep your kids inside and never let them out of sight.
Yes. Our world is going crazy. But there is still a lot of good left. God is still in the business of performing miracles. Beautiful flowers are still blooming all around us. People still commit random acts of kindness every day. And if you look around, you can always find a friend.
We know that this world is going to be even more crazy than it is now. We know that times are going to become much harder than they are now. But we also should remember that the winner has already been decided. No matter what our suffering, there will be peace in the end.
Enjoy your life. Take the time to actually slow down and smell the flowers. Read a book to your kids. Sit around the table and put a puzzle together. Sprawl out in the middle of the floor with a coloring book and a box of crayons. Find a camera and go take pictures of God's creations. Write a blog. Find a new recipe and surprise your family. Go to the nursing home and pray with someone who is about to go home. Forgive who you thought you would never forgive. Talk to God just to say hello and not ask Him for anything.. Stop worrying about your future and enjoy the present. Above all, love.
Yes, our world has gone crazy. But you don't have to.

What Comes Around
I've always been a firm believer of "What comes around, goes around". Although this isn't what it applies to, I'm really getting in to recycling old materials. A thrown away pallet made a really cool chair. Some scrap pvc pipe and scrap wood made some cute birdhouses. It's all about using a little creativity.
Robert and I have a huge recycling project coming up, but I'm keeping it under wraps for now. As we start, I will posts pictures. I hope you will get as excited as we are.
Anyway, back to what the blog was about. Some call it fate. Some call it karma. I believe it is God's way of evening out our universe. But truly, what comes around, goes around. When we knowingly do something that robs others, hurts others, or just is genuinely wrong, I believe something comes back our way ten fold. I've seen it way too many times, in my own life and in others'. We have completely changed the Golden Rule. Instead of "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you", we have changed it to "Do unto others before they do it to you". We've evolved into selfish, hurtful creatures who expect something from everyone. And I honestly believe that it's about to go around on us all real soon.
What can we do about it? We can begin with praying. After that, pray some more. Then look in the mirror to your heart. Are we happy with what we've become? Have you made right your wrongs? It's not as simple as just posting on your Facebook how great God is and what all hrs done for you. It's about going to the people that you have wronged and asking for their forgiveness. James 5:16 tells us to confess our trespasses to one another and pray for one another, that we may be healed. Most certainly, that should include talking to the one we've wronged.
Recycled. We can reclaim old stuff and make new things. We can reclaim our lives and get a new start. Start new. What comes around, goes around.

One Last Ounce
It's funny how a movie can really fire you up. I just finished watching the movie "Last Ounce of Courage". Excellent movie and I definitely recommend it to everyone.
I started a journey several years back. It seems I got a wee bit lost. Notice I said that I got lost. God didn't. Thankfully, He has been right here beside me the entire time.
I haven't posted in a long time. I guess I thought no one really cared about what I wrote, so why bother? But ya know, I used to write what God put on my heart, without caring if someone read it or not. I did it because He said so. But something is happening to all of us. We care too much about what others think and not enough about what God wants. We let government take God out of our schools. We let stores take Jesus out of His season. We are losing control, folks. Stop worrying about stepping on someone's toes and start standing up for what you KNOW is right. Wake up.
